Finished my April bullet journal only 9 days into the month, what a speedrunner I am lol. I asked in March if you could guess what April’s star would be, as expected no one guessed, but I tried to imply each month will (most likely) be a character I cosplayed. I thought April’s cover art should definitely be Sailor Mars! Sailor Mars’ birthday is in April as an Aries of course, but also April is a month with a major celestial event this year, a total solar eclipse exactly where I live, an event that will not happen for several more decades. So who better than a character from the Sailor Moon series? Dead Moon Circus arc!
[ink, marker, 2024]As usual, I’m keeping the same basic layout as the previous months because it’s simple and quick to finish. The left hand side features celestial zodiac washi tape and stickers from Daiso, including Korilakuma sleepytime stickers because I didn’t have as many Sailor Moon stickers as I thought I did. The chibi Sailor Mars sticker is from Miss Octopie. The right hand side has 90s Sailor Moon Tokyo washi tape that I got from a local art market but for some reason I didn’t write down their artist name or they had no business card. I used a large ancient Sailor Moon sticker of the inner senshi my friend gave me in the late 90s apparently, and came up with the genius idea to use it as part of a manga page. I drew two more panels of Sailor Mars with a background of sky scenery washi tape from hawberries, and a faint rubber stamping of 2 crows to represent Rei’s pet crows, Phobos and Deimos. Perhaps the drawing isn’t so great, when are they ever lol, but I like the concept, I’m trying things out with traditional media that you can’t really create on a computer screen. For me to make it to 4 months is a miracle, I hope I can finish out the year and have a notebook full of art of some of my favorite characters and themes!
