My friends invited me to try a tea service in my region that obviously I have never been to at a Thai restaurant. I was like, wow, Thai food served in a traditional English high tea service, that’s awesome and I need to be there! Of course I was going to wear lolita because winter is a great opportunity to wear layers, but as it turned out, the day after winter solstice was unseasonably (well, maybe not anymore thanks global warming) warm and humid and muggy, although on the bright side, it wasn’t sunny and broiling like the last time I wore lolita out. I already wore all my “winter” dresses at previous holiday teas, so I decided to dress based on colors instead, and debated between red/white Meta Apple Bunny and green/brown Violet Fane Ginza Kissaten. In the end, I decided Apple Bunny was too fancy and I wanted a more cozy and unique vibe, so Ginza Kissaten. I also wanted to wear my pastry headdress for once, but it didn’t really match as much as I wanted, then I remembered I had this felt vintage-looking hat I almost never wear and well, why not go full retro along with the dress print.
I really love how this coord turned out, I kinda get Katherine Hepburn in some 1950s movie about exploring or traveling. The dress was well-made and comfortable although I had some trouble with getting the straps to sit at the right height, so I buttoned at the longest length and criss-crossed them at the back. These violin boots sadly are peeling into pieces, which was expected, they are old and cheap and my house is apparently a pleather-destroyer. I do love the violin purse though, also the first time I brought it out since purchasing. In my actual outfit to the tea, I wore different, less destroyed boots and a bob wig, but I was too lazy to wear a wig cap and wig and retrieve the boots for bathroom photos.
The tea service was incredible, with tasty and unique and beautiful food, excellent and attentive service, so much refills on tea, and the cost, while high, was not unreasonable for the quality and care. I would say it was the best tea experience I have had in years, and the southeast Asian inspired cuisine was to my taste. Now for the star of the show, the tea trays, with a different Asian tea for each tier.
Here is my obligatory coord shot by the Christmas tree! Yeah, I wasn’t wearing circle lenses or fake nails, it was kind of a long drive in drizzly weather and I was running late haha.
