I’m a little late for October’s review, but here we go! We had a very eventful month, as expected, but I’m glad I powered through.

First up is the (late) monthly layout, featuring Castlevania and Vampire Hunter D for spooky, vampire, witchy aura.

Next, I am trying to post more about gyaru, so this was a belated gyaru fashion post featuring updates since my previous post 2 years ago, and current links!
Finally, I posted about my third quarter purchases from July through September. There was a lot, so I recommend clicking on the post and checking out these artists and small businesses!
I did not change my PC setup for autumn and Halloween, which I usually do because I love the spooky season, but honestly I’ve been so busy and also I used up my best spooky decor ideas already lol. You may also notice the number of posts is only three compared to 5 or more that I usually do. As mentioned, I was busy, I didn’t want my art or writing to be scraped by potential AI via this hosting company (although my site seems to be hit by bots frequently) and I wanted to wait until things have settled so that the few topics I do want to post on this blog are quality posts for my readers.
What was I busy with? Well the first weekend of October was me prepping for the zine fest in the city to the north, and while it was rainy and kinda scary to drive on the highway, it was important I go because obviously I love zines, but also I want to connect to a different community that is a little more politically involved. I passed out a bunch of my own zines and bought a lot of art and zines as well, really glad I went. Then I had to commute and work on sewing and artwork for the gyaru fashion market the next weekend, for which I shared a table with my friend visiting from Austin. The new venue was a cute shop downtown, although we didn’t sell much, not a lot of buyers tbh, but the DJ was cool and hip, and then we had Lebanese for dinner afterward. Then it was more prepping cosplay all week, but before that particular event happened, I met my friends in downtown for another Sprinkle Trinkle collab with the NTX card show at the same convention center as the Fan Expo I went to last month. This time I parked much closer and the weather had turned from hot and muggy the week before to brisk and clear. My friends and I had fun checking out the booths and I spent a lot of money again, but I didn’t return on Sunday because parking is just so expensive downtown.
Finally, the main event of the month was TFcon in Orlando Florida! I’ll blog about that separately on my site, but I did finish a cosplay from March that was only a third done, bishoujo Cliffjumper, whipped up a new mini zine and made upgrades to my bishoujo Starscream. I had sooo much fun going to artist alley, dealer’s room, panels and autographs, and seeing all of the cool and creative costumes just for Transformers. I only went for Saturday and half of Sunday, then flew back home to enjoy the rest of my week off (mostly). I did work that Wednesday, but the rest of the time was spent taking care of appointments and cleaning my mess of a house due to so many events in a row lol. I early voted of course, I hung out with my brother and also watched Street Fighter (very funny and silly) on my own. For Halloween, I wore a closet cosplay of Maomao from Apothecary Diaries while out running errands, and spent the afternoon/evening with my friends for Resident Evil 9 and Trigun Stampede. I got home at 9pm and gave the candy I snagged to some teens and that was my month!
Honestly, October was full of dread and misery at times due to our government and the costs and stresses caused by such. But I forced myself out of my depressive introverted shell as much as I could especially during this month before the elections. Somehow I felt energized talking to random strangers, sharing my artwork, listening to and observing everyone’s joy and kindness and desire to connect to like-minded folks. As much as I laugh at memes about generational differences, I think most of us have more in common than we think. (Maga can go eat rocks.) Then the election happened and well, I like to think my efforts paid off somehow, even if it’s mostly moral and financial support to others. That’s still important!
I’ve been working on my neocities.org site, so I hope you check it out and subscribe to my new newsletter where you can find these updates if all other sites fail!
