[fashion] Okashi-con J-fashion mixer coord

For Labor Day weekend the last weekend of August, I made the drive to San Antonio for San Japan and the Okashi-con events there, including their Japanese fashion mixer. This year’s theme was Sweet Roulette with a casino cards theme, so I wore an Alice in Wonderland coord that I bought from Metamorphose because I didn’t have any Alice dresses despite being a lolita for so long.  This particular one piece dress is the Wonder Card Alice OP, which has detachable ribbon brooch, waist ties, collar, apron (that also detaches from top to bottom), and long sleeves. With just one reasonably priced dress, you get a ton of different looks for different weather/occasions, and not only that, the material is a soft smooth cotton with shirred back and a cute print of Alice motifs. My perfect dress!

I somehow thought Meta was going to be the guest this year again but I was wrong lol. As always, I bought stuff from the fashion vendors in the con to wear at the mixer. This time I bought a stocking legs brooch from Vierge Vampur which I did wear, as well as a black ribbon headdress from Morun x Muuna Stoik (did not wear) and Alice bracelets from Enchanted Dream Couture (did wear). Nothing much to say about this coord, I loved the short sleeves aspect of the dress as it kept me relatively cool in the humid weather and also the fact that the headband matched the shoes and the socks I already owned were the perfect color and theme match. The only thing I thought about adding were some handmade wrist cuffs, however I didn’t have the right color fabric and Joann’s doesn’t exist anymore so I didn’t worry about it. I did make the heart necklace and a themed bracelet but I felt the bracelet could break so I didn’t bring it, and that turned out fine because the mixer gift bag came with a matching bracelet already!

The mixer brunch was provided by the hotel, just as delicious as last year, and the thematic mixed drinks were also yummy. The activities included a dice game tournament and blackjack rounds with the dealer for raffle tickets. Surprisingly I didn’t win anything at the raffle but it was for the best, because I bought so much stuff in the artist alley in preparation for either tariffs affecting artists’ inventory or just not being able to travel much later to see artists from all over the nation because our country sucks. Anyway, I had fun going to several panels (bracelet making, blouse drafting, sustainable wardrobe ideas), the swap meet, and the glorious fashion show full of smaller brands and designers. I appreciate Okashi-con going all out with fashion activities and setting up a venue for fashion fans to meet up in an inclusive space.

One more photo, with my face looking ragged and old because this year has lasted 10 years psychologically…
