Following up on last year’s 2024 art summary post, here is 2025! I didn’t do an art vs artist image because I didn’t draw that much and so I’d just be repeating artwork although I did cut my hair short, maybe I’ll post next year if I draw more (and you know… survive 2026).
Obviously 2025 was a tough year, in real life with the political and societal situation being very depressing for artists and creatives, and personally with me having difficulty making time to draw since I didn’t use a bullet journal. Instead I used an old planner that had no room for drawings because I tried to fit all 365 days in one small book. I did actually work on some character portraits to complete my button badge set for a fandom event, but I did not vend at any art market, nor did I actually accomplish selling on consignment. I also didn’t get commissions, though I did try to advertise it. 2025 was super underwhelming for motivation to draw art, not gonna lie.
However this year, I did draw 2 artist trading cards with real media and also worked up several fashion design pieces (only one shown). As for my annual two art goals – goal one, I technically drew every month, but missed completing a piece beyond sketch in June because I was out of town or something. Goal two, I don’t really think I used any new art tutorials in my art this year, again all of the tutorials I watched were for cosplay/sewing but that still counts to me lol. Next year, I will try to get a 100% on my art goals, which I might be able to achieve if I start my bullet journal up again. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sell at art markets next year and kinda iffy on consignment, but I do want to finish my Transformers portrait set, and then start 2 more art projects (also related to Transformers lol). I’d like to draw more trading cards just because they’re relatively easy wins using traditional media, and I actually have several sketched cards from years ago that just need finishing. If not, I’d like to draw something from my other interests for my bullet journal layouts: anime, danmei, video games, Japanese fashion. And finally, I’m going to make those stickers that I bought sticker paper, for real this time, because I finally bought a new printer after 10+ years of struggling with this old one.
Overall lots to work on 2026, maybe I’ll get 10% of that done, except the world is still awful, and stupid AI didn’t die like I was hoping. We shall see what happens…
