January was so long and depressing, and I got a little busy at the end, so this month’s layout is a bit rushed despite working on bit by bit before February started. Anyways, this month’s theme is Asian food! I actually have quite a bit of Asian food stickers because I live in a city with a large Asian immigrant population and lots of Asian restaurants, and plenty of local artists make stationary to appeal to the masses. Also, February is Chinese/Lunar (technically lunisolar) New Year, or Tet for me, so this is the perfect chance to use my food stationary!

The left-hand side features dumpling washi tape on the borders that I’ve used before but don’t remember the artist, and a ramen stamp washi tape made by Shattered Earth. The herbs and tea and green sparkle stickers are Apothecary Diaries sheet from Evaienna. The pepper sticker is from Ohmonah. On the bottom are some Asian food stickers from Sprinkle Trinkle – Thanxsu (Purin purin) and Kuru 731 (cut fruit = love). The other stickers are from stickii club (glittery Japanese food) and carm (Hong Kong culture and dimsum food).

As usual the dialogue stickers are from the same Michaels set I’ve been using for years. I think the heart sticker is from a local artist but forgot their name, it’s somewhere on this blog. And the number stamps are from Daiso, which I struggled with using lol.

The right hand side features a collage of Daiso origami paper, decorated with shiny deco camellia bunny stickers I got from Artbox. I added even more Hong Kong food stickers as well as the bus and car stickers from the same sheet. The second stamp sticker from Kuru731 is also accurate lol (my cuisine is the best!). I then added good fortune stickers from Yunorium from their Year of the Dragon sheet, and I included red lantern and camellia stickers from Nonomoe. The other cartoon food stickers are from Megan Wang. The centerpiece is a chibi drawing I made of the three members of Orange Caramel (a K-pop group) from the Shanghai Romance music video. I never really succeed in drawing cute chibis and bujo drawings are even sloppier than my usual computer art, but these are pretty darn cute considering the short timeframe I had to draw. I colored with alcohol markers and acrylic paint markers, which are very fun to use, then cut out and glued into place.

Overall, I thought this is a cute and cheerful layout to look at, I’m glad I went this direction instead of romance. I obviously had fun looking at the tiny food stickers and trying to figure out if I’ve ever eaten them. Here’s a list of everything I can recognize plus some I don’t recall eating marked with question marks, maybe you know them. Have you eaten these Asian foods before?

  4. checkerboard shortbread cookie
  5. some kind of onion/scallion pancake with white thingies (squid?) and sauce? (Japanese)

  9. egg tart
  10. shumai pork/shrimp dumplings
