[fanart] November (early) monthly art – Soundwave

I finished my November fanart early in time for an event next weekend, but trust I will have another fanart ready by the end of the month as usual. This time I spent a few nights painstakingly trying to draw Transformers One movie Soundwave for my flower trading card series. I had a fairly accurate toy (I did not at the time for when I drew the others except maybe B-127) from Blokees as well as trading cards, so I did my best to simplify/mash all the reference images together. Soundwave has a simple masked/visored face which I love, but also a lot of parallel lines in this particular design. Though I did mirror the torso lines, the straight lines I hand-drew without a ruler look very crooked now that I’m glancing at it again. Oh well!

I chose hyacinth flowers for Soundwave because they were blue and… I like them, I guess I really like bulb flowers for the Decepticons. Hyacinth by itself means sport, game, or play based on the Greek myth which doesn’t have too much to do with Soundwave, but blue hyacinth means constancy and that’s what he (usually) is about. My other choice was hydrangea with an equally half-relevant flower meaning. Soundwave is a popular Decepticon because of his cassette tape little guys(or gals) and so I’m glad to have finished this fanart with a moderate degree of success, even though I ought to redraw the flowers (clip art was not cooperating) or maybe choose a different flower when I have more free time.
