[fanart] August monthly art – B-127 trading card

August’s artwork was done 9 whole days before the end of the month, must be a record! This fanart for B-127 from the Transformers One movie was easy because I knew what to draw, and Transformers are usually symmetrical (so if I’m drawing a front-facing portrait, I just copy-paste one side to the other, that’s my secret, or if I drew it once, then it’s a little easier to draw the other side) and the background was already drawn from the previous 2 trading cards. I sketched one night and finished the lineart/coloring/frame the next night. Obviously it was a very long night of drawing and coloring, but I had to lock in, because drawing robots and straight lines is extra difficult for me, can’t get distracted or I’ll never finish.

I love how this turned out! Bumblebee isn’t really my favorite archetype of character (young-ish, hopeful, friendly, mood-maker, the relatable sociable guy compared to the others who are all doom and gloom), but sometimes he is just soooooooo cute in the franchise, I have to scream like Lucille Bluth because I can’t keep my feelings inside. Sunflowers (and daisies) are perfect for his flower, but buttercup is more canon-related, though less recognizable as a flower blossom than a sunflower. Anyway, once I decide the flower, I’ll update the banner, probably need to punch up the colors more, too, but more or less ready for printing. See the Optimus Prime and Starscream cards from January here!
