[fanart] July monthly art – Liu Qingge trading card

I actually drew (or started drawing) more than one piece this month for once! I finished this trading card just now and thought it looked cool so it is the featured artwork for this month. I didn’t finish anything that great for June by the way, I was busy with other crafts and traveling.

July’s subject is Peak Lord Liu Qingge in his official donghua (animation) outfit. The linework drawing is boring 3/4 bust up portrait per usual, I try to not take risks with traditional media lol. But I quite liked the effect of layering colors and textures with the pen and pencil over markers and ink, even a little silver paint pen in there, so I’m proud enough of this card to post it on its own. Always a pleasure to draw the War God of Baizhan Peak!

Currently I’m debating buying more alcohol based markers. I have a pretty good selection gathered over the years with craft store coupons and Daiso inventory and such, but I am missing the perfect shades of blue and pink and green. However, I don’t draw traditionally enough to warrant buying a huge set either. Guess I should learn to mix colors and use gouache instead. I always love drawing trading cards even though my base art isn’t super exciting, they’re just so quick to finish coloring because of their tiny size.
