I posted this a day late, but I did finish a fanart for June since I didn’t draw one for my bullet journal. Here’s Barbara from Genshin Impact!
There was an intention for the caption and the fact that she is holding a gun (she is a mage and actually wields a spell book in game), though I’m not sure I will follow through with the rest of the project lol. However I will create a gunless/captionless version to print out for buttons to add to my growing collection of Genshin characters button badges for sale but most likely trade or giveaways at local cons. I didn’t really like the pose I drew and tried editing to a different head position. In the end it looked very boring compared to the initial pose, and so I salvaged the art to the best of my ability with slightly more shading and background details. Also with my new PC I lost all of my files and settings in Clip Studio and I’m not sure if it’s related to the license transfer and if it’s possible to redownload my settings, so the brushes are a bit standard, oh well.
I don’t know who I will draw next but I hope by San Japan at the end of August I have a few more characters in the inventory. I would like to add another 1 or 2 characters from Inazuma and 1 more from Fontaine, maybe Chiori to cover both lol. For my project, I need to draw 4 new characters from each region I haven’t drawn before, and then of course I would like to draw Lumine and redraw Xinyan in her normal outfit. So that’s at least 7 more characters, whew. Any requests?
So far my best Genshin fanart has been Kaeya and Xinyan, the rest look like crap in comparison. Is it because I just love Kaeya and Xinyan so much, my skills increased temporarily to do them justice? Well, the real answer is I just need to draw more – studies, experiments, color theory, life drawing. Even practicing with my bullet journal traditional art hasn’t helped, I just need to buckle down and practice more, more often, and overcome the limited time and energy barrier. Wish me luck!
